I'm looking to get a new GFX card as my X1900XTX is dead.
My budget can stretch to ~350 euro. My question is, which is better, the 2900XT or a 8800GTS 320MB??
I'm leaning towards the 2900XT.
I could possibly go for a 640MB version of the 8800GTS but I really don't want to be spending ~400 bucks.
I'll be shopping here if this helps.
Thanks,
Ken
Looking for a new GFX card
Re: Looking for a new GFX card
NVIDIA's releasing a new 8800GT that is supposedly faster than the current generation 8800GTS, while costing about $200 USD or CAD (I hope). The 8800GT should be released on Monday.
ATI is releasing a new graphics card sometime in mid-November. I think it uses the R670XT core and it should be modeled something similar to this: 3870. The new core is based on 55nm process and I think it uses a single-slot cooler solution.
Hope it helps

It just sucks running this Geforce 7100 64MB.
Re: Looking for a new GFX card
Between those 2, the 8800GTS gets my vote. It is simply more efficient both in terms of power and performance. Otherwise, yes, wait for the 8800GT, at least thats what I'm doing.

Re: Looking for a new GFX card
Well TweakTown have a review our for the 8800GT here It looks damn good
The only problem is, I won't be seeing this card in an Irish store anytime soon. I'd guess it won't be until the end of Nov before I can buy it...........I could get it from the UK, but then I have the rip off prices due to currency conversion and postage, not to mention issues with RMAing it later on.
I'm thinking of just getting the GTS and be done with it.
/time to check the finances and see if I can stretch a bit further. -> GTX's are ~€500
