A co-worker's house got struck by lightning 6 days after he bought this tv. He has since replaced it with another better tv with his insurance money and doesnt want to take the time to go see what it will take to get it fixed. He states the power light comes on but nothing else. So i am hoping to the EXTREME max all it needs is a very minor repair. Even if its a 700$ fix will be worth it. LOLLO
Anyone have any ideas or been in a similar boat? I pick it up tomorrow.
Sux the power light comes on because it might have just been a fuse if it didnt. I dont think the fuse would be bad if the power light comes on.
I would suggest taking it somewhere for an estimate - might have to pay a few bux for the estimate, but it will be well worth not having to guess which parts to buy and end up costing you thousands of dollars for a simple $700 repair ;)

I didn't think plasma displays had a backlight...oh well
Good Luck on getting it fixed though, that'd be an awesome snag.
Anyway, if you can't repair it, you could always turn it into a fish aquarium and amaze people with the amazingly lifelike picture
Of course there is always the Fonz method of repair
HAHAH yeah, i took it apart ( me being the tinkerer that i am) and there was no scorch marks or anything that looked blown. I called the manufacturer and its still under waranty. The TV was made 5 months ago
They gave me a number to a local certified service center. They are going to come check the TV out and if they can fix it on the spot they will take it with them and get it fixed. Still not 100% sure if it can be fixed and if it can under the warranty. Even if i have to spend money on it.. i dont care!! LOL
Yeah, believe me i tripple checked for void if removed stickers. There was nothing in the way. We looked all through it and all the fuses still had continuity. The repair people come pick it up tomorrow and it will be a few weeks till i get it back, that is if they deem it repairable. LOL
HAHAH yeah, Well they came to pick it up this morning and say they have a 7-10 business day turn around. Another option i am considering is selling it, getting a little smaller TV and pocketing some cash Not too sure yet, its a nice TV.
keep it Keep it, if you sell it i can see in a few years time you will be saying, Damn this show would of looked great on that tv...

HAHAHAHHA, I know. I would deff get another HDTV. The only bad thing as of right now is that we dont have anything that utilizes HD. The only tv we have now is over the air. Other than that its the HTPC, and from what i hear, games dont play that well over plasma. 50inches though.....
