Re: D975XBX 8GB not working; works on Gigabyte mainboard

I just plugged 8GB Corsair TWINX2x4096-6400C5G into my new Gigabyte P35-DQ6 and it immediately worked.
Vista x64 sees 8190MB. The vista memory perfomance index went from 5.4 to 5.5.

@pes: The title "3rd Party Tested Memory " on Intel http://www.intel.com/support/motherboar ... 026567.htm actually is a hyperlink (even though it does not look like one). It points to http://www.cmtlabs.com/mbSearchResults. ... mit=Search where some tested momory is listed.

That part is irrelevant as to amount of RAM.
My index shows a 5.9 with 2 GB.
It was 5.5 with 4 GB.
The index score went up after overclocking the FSB.

<<Vista x64 sees 8190MB:
Intel support told me, I would not see the full 8GB "due to system address space being allocated for other system critical functions". Even though this did not make sense to me I was afraid of loosing nearly 1GB (as with 4GB physical RAM under Vista x86). It seems with the P35 Chipset Vista x64 sees the full 8GB.

I was pleased to see that the memory index stayed about the same. I had feared to loose memory performane, because of the bios reducing speed to be able to address the larger amount of memory safely.
I was curious if Vista would give a significant higher memory rating for that much more RAM. It oviously does not and research showed that more than 1.5 GB has no influence on the rating http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windo ... 58117.aspx.

I was there, but those aren't available there, in Czech Republic. Corsair, Kingston etc, are available. But those listed there I never saw :-) But with that model which worked on XBX2 maybe good choice. We will try to swap these modules.

Thanks for any hints.

Damn, even with memory listed in Kingston Configurator for 975XBX board it doesn't work. I give it to supplier and he returned it, that this memory module isn't supported (bad memory organization, it's highlighted in manual and intel website). Why the hell it's listed in Kingston Configurator?? So now, we are still at 4GB and waiting if there is such memory modules supported by this board at our market.
