I don't know the right catagory but, security cameras

Post by hercules71185 »

ok, I had a problem with the time clock before. Now I got a security camera installed at the marina. NOW, I know its not blocked or locked so I can link to it from home easily but, I don't know where to begin. I went to google and did that security camera trick but, can't find it no matter how many I goto and I also used the zip code the ip and name of the place.. any ideas how to watch from home?

Is it an "IP camera" or just a standard CCTV camera using a coax connection to a VCR?

Then you need to set up remote desktop if its a XP pro or set up Ultra VNC to get remote control of the PC. Now with the ability to control it now you have to connect to it, start the client side of the remote and your good to go.

Just saw the post, kind of late reply, but if you have a permanant connection to the internet you should be able to connect from any web browser. I have one set up and all i have to do is forward the port number i'm using for the cam and can log in from the web withe the assigned IP. If you have a dynamic IP then you need to use a service like http://www.dyndns.com/ to keep it available. (its free)

did you already get it working?
