Crysis Single Player Video Game Benchmarking

Post by Apoptosis »

Benchmarking
The game has a GPU benchmark batch file in the following directory: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Bin32

The test will be looped four times and produce maximum, minimum and average frame rates.

Testing Recommendations
Crysis is an extremely demanding game. Make sure you use the appropriate quality settings when testing different GPUs. Here are the recommended settings for different NVIDIA GPUs:

Graphics Card Recommended Setting

GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB High to Very High
GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB High
GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB Medium
GeForce 8600 GTS Medium to Low

Here are some results for your reference:

Setting 1280 x1024 1280 x1024 4xAA 1600 x1200
GeForce 8800 Ultra High 47 37 35
GeForce 8800 GTX High 41 33 30
GeForce 8800 GTS High 32 26 25
GeForce 8800 GT High 37 25 26

call me crazy, but the built-in benchmark locks up after the fourth loop on Vista x64 saying that a file can't be found. In the bat file it looks like the results are written to this file: "..\Game\Levels\island\benchmark_cpu.log" but my system doesn't have one there.

benchmark_cpu.bat
quote:

@echo Running CPU benchmark 1
@echo Results will depend on current system settings
@pause
@echo Running...
@crysis.exe -DEVMODE +map island +exec benchmark_cpu
@type "..\Game\Levels\island\benchmark_cpu.log"
@pause
Can anyone help me out a bit here?

I run the x64 binary, I'm going to have to look into that...

I hear SLI is not supported even if you force an SLI profile on the game. This means that 7900GTX SLI should be able to pull at least a mix of High-Medium settings, if not all High. Talk about happy! If my rig is "Crysis-proof" and 1.5 years old I will be elated.

Please do and let me know what you find out.

As for SLI in Crysis this is what NVIDIA told me last night on the record...
Although SLI is not supported in the demo, the final Crysis game with a patch will provide full SLI support.
There you have it straight from NVIDIA. Sounds like a patch is needed even with the final build.

With SLI on "Custom" (whatever that means) in the profile, I got 20FPS average through the GPU timedemo with a mix of High and Medium settings at 1280x1024. The CPU timedemo pulls 17FPS average on the same settings. Keep in mind I'm running the x64 version of Crysis under Vista Ultimate.

Has anyone tried this in SLI? is it compatible with SLI?

I tried it with a single 8800gtx and ran ok, then i put 2x 8800gts in sli and ran almost like crap. I know 2x gts's are better than 1x gtx....right :roll:
