uninstall a program without uninstaller
I installed a trial version of a game and I can't uninstall it. If I delete the folder what else do I have to delete to get rid of it. I wanted to reinstall it since it had problems. And when I put the cd in it says I can play game. Then I hit play and the program closes with an error. What am I missing to get it to fully uninstall
Re: uninstall a program without uninstaller
did you even use the add/remove program tool in the control panel?

Re: uninstall a program without uninstaller
I tried but, the option was blank it was weird. Where it was supposed to say change/remove was completely blank. Here is exactly what happened. I wanted to use a no cd crack and I guess it was bad. And being a dumb @$$ I didn't back up the original because it worked before same key same game. Now I tried to start the game the exe was bad. I tried to uninstall the exe was bad. so I tried uninstalling via control panel same thing. Then through that option under the start menu. Nothing worked so I deleted every file on my computer related to it. but, its still in the control panel and the menu still only says play or uninstall. No option to install. Someone has to be able to help. Basically It looks like I have to reinstall windows. I JUST did that when I got my hard drive I don't feel like getting all my stuff off dvds again it took forever.

Damn registry. A good registry cleaner tool will help clean out orphaned registry entries. It's good to run one every once and a while.

I use Ccleaner but, apparently it doesn't work well. Any suggestions on a better one?

This one is good but not free (free trial): http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/
Here's a pretty good list of free ones: http://www.freeware-guide.com/dir/util/registry.html
I personally use System Mechanic by Iolo.

Do this...
Go into the registry (Start->Run->regedit Enter) Collapse all the trees hit F3 and search for the name of the game. Delete every entry you come across. I've had to do this in the past to get a corrupted install to work. Hope you get it fixed.
Also if you open up CCleaner and go to the Add/Remove section there is an option to delete the entry. This is purely cosmetic but it will remove that entry from Windows' Add/Remove Programs list.
