Only 685 Systems in the World Folding on GPU's
Does that shock anyone else? I was looking at the Folding site stats page and say this on here: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/mai ... pe=osstats
So over the past 10 days only 685 systems have turned in work units with the GPU... crazy as I thought it would be higher.

Re: Only 685 Systems in the World Folding on GPU's
Its Stanford's fault, no nvidia support and no cards are supported since the x1900 series. We've had two generations since that.

Re: Only 685 Systems in the World Folding on GPU's
I used to gpu fold, but it was not as effective as I wanted it to be and it got my system running really hot.

Re: Only 685 Systems in the World Folding on GPU's
I too thought it was low till matt pointed out how 'old' the cards that are supported are, enthusiasts who fold are more than likely to have upgraded since then.

It makes a person think if GPU's are worth it vs. the PS3's that are slamming out the WUs now.
We need a few PS3's on the LR team.

What kind of numbers are we talking about for a ps3? How many points per wu? How long does each wu take? Will it keep up with smp client? Just asking because if it's about the same then why not have a ps3.

900ppd for ps3, 1000 - 1300 ppd for Core2Duo Stock, SMP, more when overclocked.

It's not 1760, but it's not to bad considering you can buy a ps3 for the price of a high end card and watch blue ray movies.
Re: Only 685 Systems in the World Folding on GPU's
Folding on an Nvidia 8800 GTX (or even the 9xxx cards when thay come out be cool)
what will be intresing is Now AMD have made the 790Fx boards haveing 4 amd 3850 4 copys of GPU FAH running see if that can be faster then an PS3 or not (id asume crossfirex have to be disabled for it to work as do not think FAH 1 copy will work on 4 cards )
