For some reason the drive will see dvd-rs now as 0byte cd (dvd+r works fine)! I researched a bit and its happening to lots of people no matter what drive they use.
Even ISObuster seems to be able to read dvd-r, so its just the xp driver or something.
Also, dvd-rs can be read in XP safe mode and other OSes (i tried Linux and othrs say it worked for them on Vista,dos,98)
The drive is not falling back to PIO, i checked and cleared the appropriate counters to be sure.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the dvd from the device manager several times + reboot, but no luck!
Any ideas?

Maybe a clue on how to make a clean uninstall of the dvd driver? (i mean delete it completely and let the system ask for it,but on the safe side)
files shown on the driver file details of the drive:
cdrom.sys
imapi.sys
pxhelp20.sys
redbook.sys
storprop.dll
The drive is a nec nd4551A
Thanks!
