Ati HD3850 Crossfire, something is going wrong!

Post by razor333 »

First of all, i want to say hi to this forum!

Now, I have a lot of problems making crossfire work!

First of all i have a asus p5b deluxe with intel 965p chipset.
In bios i have enable crossfire. And the second pci-e works (i have tested it with a single card, and i get a 10% performance loss, because of the 4x lanes)
My cpu is a [email protected], and works stable up to 3.5GHz. I have 2Gb ram, supertalent 4-4-3-8 800MHz, works stable up to 1000MHz.
I am using the latest catalyst, and i have enabled the crossfire from the driver menu. Also for the crysis i have used the hotfix 7.11.
I have tested some games, on windows vista and xp, for vista i have install the CF/SLI hofix.

BUT, i have no performance gain, in all the titles you have tested in the HD3870 crossfire review, and i dont know why?!
The only test that i have good performance gain is the 3dmark06, under XP, and Vista, also in bioshock under vista only, in windows XP the second card under the same game is inactive!

Also the second card is inactive under all half life 2 based titles (vista+xp), Call of duty 4 (vista+xp), crysis (vista+xp), call of juarez (vista+xp), bioshock (xp), timeshift (xp+vista), stalker (xp, not tested@vista), oblivion (xp+vista), and more....

I am very disappointed, previous i had one 8800GT, unfortunately it has problem (burned after 15 days), and i rma it with those piece of :toimonster:

Some help please, before i make them fly out of my window! ](*,)

so you scale in 3dmark 2006, but nothing else? That doesn't make sense...

What are your 3dmark 06 scores with and without crossfire with all the other settings the same.

Single card 750/1000

Crossfire, stock clocks.

I can't find a solution, especially in XP in every game i had test, the second card doesn't seems to work, in catalyst the temp difference is big, 80C the primary, 50C the secontary.
Right after 3dmark06 both cards are somewhere below the 80C!

we can't see those pics without registering at that forum, so could you rehost them either here or somewhere like http://www.imageshack.us please.

Have you tried using both cards separately from each other to play games/3dmark? Possibly one of them isn't working properly at all.

No problem...

Single card 750/1000, windowsXP all settings@performance mode.

Crossfire stock clocks, windowsXP all settings@performance mode.

The second card works, if i remove the primary one, the computer boots with the second card at the pci-e 4x slot, but the speed, as i say, is about 10% less.

Also, i just make a discover, when i disable catalyst A.I. crossfire stop working in 3dmark06 and 3dmark03, and here is something of interest, when i have catalyst A.I. enabled, even at standard mode, as ati says, most of the games crash! I think this is the problem.

i'm at a loss for words... with the latest 7.11 drivers and with crossfire enabled in the driver and then applied you should see scaling.

The only thing that I can think of is the driver crossover from when you took out your nvidia card.

Did you uninstall the 8800GT then run driver cleaner pro, before installing the ATI cards?

I make clean install, several times, that wasnt the problem.
---------

Because, i found the source of the problem, of cource microsoft.

I just install SP3 beta, and crossfire finally works! (a update/hotfix, that i havent download all this time)

But, at crysis with 7.11 hot fix driver, i get now heavy artifacts.

Only with disabled catalyst AI the game start works well, but crossfire doent work, with AI disabled, as i say.

bioshock, hl2, coj(with artifacts) and co4 now are working.
