Comcast DNS Failures

For those who use Comcast, you will have noticed that there was quite a bit of downtime on the 7th, and again on the 12th. For those who do not know why, it was due to one of their primary DNS servers going down, which essentially shut down just about all non-ip based communication. Expect for it to happen again.

Second outage in six days
Fresh off the major DNS outage of last week, users in our Comcast Forum report more widespread DNS issues tonight. Members are sharing various workarounds until the issues are resolved.

I have switched over to alternative DNS servers and am running very quickly without problems. I suggest you do the same.

that explains much... its also kinda nice to know that i was right when it was happening
