Hey everybody,
I'm in the process of finishing up building my computer so i'm starting to hook up all the power connectors. This is where I am very confused. I Have the Intel D975XBX2 board and the OCZ 700W GameXStream power supply. The connectors don't seem to match what I should be using.
Here's a link to the power supply - http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/p ... _sli_ready_
I show a 1x24 Main Pin on the Power Supply. The mobo seems to want either a 2x12 or 2x10. It now seems that maybe my power supply isn't compatiable with this mobo. Can anyone explain?
Also, the motherboard shows to other things to hook up
(1) 2x2 - 2-4 adapter or just use the 2x4
(2) 1x4
I really very confused on this so If someone can explain or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!!!!

Re: D975XBX2 + OCZ Power Supply 700W GameXStream Questions?
I'm seeing a 24 pin main board connector, an 8 pin cpu connector and a normal molex connector.
24 pin is down by the drive connector, your power supply has 24 pin.
8 pin just behind and to the right of the cpu, your power supply has one
the 4 pin molex is right by the large silver heat sink by the middle, your power supply has those
I think the other connectors your looking at are fan/input out put connectors. That's a nice power supply set up for modern systems pretty sure it has all the connectors you'll need and a few more.

Re: D975XBX2 + OCZ Power Supply 700W GameXStream Questions?
So, would you say the 2x4 connector on my mobo is the CPU1 and CPU2 plugs on my power supply? If so, is there only one way to put them on (like which order)?
the 1x24 pin on my power supply is really divided into 2 plugs (one has 2x10 and the other is 2x2 or something like this). I lined them all up in the mobo plug and they fit correctly.
Thanks for the help!!

The main 24 pin being a 20 + 4 pin connector is so that it can support older motherboards that only have a 20pin connector on the motherboard and don't need the extra 4 pins.
Yes the cpu1+cpu2 is what goes in the 8 pin. There is only one way round it will fit, so try it both ways and don't force it in if it isn't going in.

You're correct, everything fit like a glove! The only other question I have is the 1x4 connector on the mobo - I plugged in one of the 4-pin peripheral plugs - it fit fine but just wanted to make sure this was correct. I don't want to fry anything!
Thanks for the help!

Yeah that's right too. That connector is usually for aux 12v power for the motherboard, mostly handy when running SLI or high powered PCIe devices.
