Cant connect my pc to the tv with HDMI cable.
Re: Cant connect my pc to the tv with HDMI cable.
Try hooking it up to the D-Sub input. Should be a standard VGA cable taht came with your monitor.
See if you get a picture that way.

Re: Cant connect my pc to the tv with HDMI cable.
sorry for impatience but is it possible that my tv is not support hdtv ?
although i see at page 6 in manual - the hdmi connection as describe there: a)hdmi - high definition multimedia interface.
but this is the only place in the manual the word high defenition is mentioned.
edit : knightrid , but even if this work , its not hdtv , isnt ?

Re: Cant connect my pc to the tv with HDMI cable.
Standard Def TV's don't usually have HDMI inputs.
Also on page 24 of the manual it says the Component in (the ypbpr), supports ...,576p/i,1080i and the last one is definately HD.
When you are trying to set the TV up, what refresh rate is your desktop monitor set at? Try it at 60hz.

its set for 60hz.
just got mail from saphire tech support and this is what it says :
"I am suspecting it's the external cable and adapter, I can try and send you
another HDMI adapter to see if we can solve this issue for you".
anyone know what he means ? if the problem is in the hdmi cable why doesnt he tell me to buy another one ?

Re: Cant connect my pc to the tv with HDMI cable.
Because he thinks you are using a DVI->HDMI adaptor then a regular HDMI cable from that, he's suggesting a replacement DVI->HDMI adaptor for you, which you currently aren't using >_<

I've seen a TV with HDMI and didn't support HD but, thats not the question. Because you can't get a picture on any resolution right? Even in standard.

Re: Cant connect my pc to the tv with HDMI cable.
its at least 720p. Page 2 on your manual has basic pc hook up info.
Re: Cant connect my pc to the tv with HDMI cable.
try setting it to clone first with a resolution supported by both the monitor and the tv. the tv is probably windscreen either 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. so you need equivalent resolutions. 1280x720 is 720p I believe since p just means at 60hz instead of 30 and 720 is the resolution. unless your main lcd can handle 1920x1080, that's the resolution you'll need. though I got my tv to run 1680x1050 which is wide screen also. That worked for me for running both, otherwise just set your computer to that resolution unplug the monitor an dthen plug in the tv during start up. then change the resolultion to whatever you want just remember to change it back before you use your lcd again. that or you ahve to plug in a crt to fix it. It is tricky with out direct DVI connections detecting the default resolutions.

Doesnt matter if it is HD right now or not - just try it to see if it works ;) I want to see if you are getting ANY signal to the tv or not.KnightRid wrote:Try hooking it up to the D-Sub input. Should be a standard VGA cable taht came with your monitor.

i tried that as well, set resolution to 1280X720 shut down disconnect the lcd cable , connect hdmi cable and still - no sync message was remain. once again , windows could be heard while started.

what i ment was that i use a regular cable (like pc screnn cable that isnt dvi connection) and in one side of the cable i put an adpater for dvi and that side was pluged in to the pc, other side go to the d-sub in the t.v.
Re: Cant connect my pc to the tv with HDMI cable.
ok so using the d-sub cable you get the video to the tv - then the cable is good and at least the dvi-vga adapter is good.
keeps pointing back to your tv - hmmm... did you get a breakout box with the video card to hook it up to component video on the tv? You could try that

Re: Cant connect my pc to the tv with HDMI cable.
no i did not get a breakout box , and even if i was, what cable u want me to plug to the box , and to what connection in the tv u want to plug in ?
Re: Cant connect my pc to the tv with HDMI cable.
If your card didnt have a breakout box with it you cant plug it in the way I was saying anyway.fibola wrote:no i did not get a breakout box , and even if i was, what cable u want me to plug to the box , and to what connection in the tv u want to plug in ?
This one just has me stumped....unless - in the software for the video card, there is a choice somewhere in there for the output type - ntsc/m, etc - is that on the setting for your area? Just thought about that one. If it is set for the wrong area you will never see anything but maybe strange lines or a rolling screen in the background.
Mike
I do not know where to look in the ATI software, so you are on your own to explore where that setting is.
