ASUS Launches High Performance Dual-Processor Server Motherboards

-- The latest Intel 5400MCH-based server motherboards boast high performance and energy efficiency; resulting in improved speed and increased stability --
FREMONT, CA (January 17, 2007) – ASUS®, worldwide leader in component and notebook design and manufacturing, today released two dual-processor server motherboards based on the next generation Intel® 5400MCH platform to support the new 45nm Intel Xeon® 5400/5200 processors. Designed for enterprise-class computing environments where efficiency and stability are critical, the ASUS DSEB-D16/SAS and DSEB-DG/SAS server motherboards feature an eco-friendly architecture that lowers power consumption and at the same time increases heat dissipation. Additional features such as the support for high-speed PCI-Express Gen2 and the integrated quad-LAN make the new ASUS motherboards the ideal choices for future-proof server configurations.

Green Design with 90%+ Power Efficiency
Based on the legendary ASUS green motherboard design, the DSEB series delivers over 90% in power savings. This improved power efficiency results in a significant reduction of the total cost of ownership, especially for enterprise environments that deploy numerous server systems that operate 24/7.

Exclusive MemCoolTM Delivers Maximum Heat Dissipation
The optional ASUS MemCool kit maximizes fully-buffered DIMM performance by eliminating the risk of system memory throttling due to overheating. Increased heat dissipation helps to ensure platform stability, thereby making the ASUS DSEB series the ideal choice for mission-critical systems.

PCI-Express (PCI-E) Gen2 x16 for High Speed Connections
With next generation PCI-E Gen2 x16 slots, the DSEB series provides increased bandwidth, up to 8GB/s, doubling the bandwidth of PCI-E Gen1. The DSEB series also supports professional graphic cards and high-speed inter-connection cards that support InfiniBand® technology.

Quad-LAN Improves Data Transfer Rates
The built in quad-LAN technology integrates four server class high-speed Gigabit LAN ports into a single port – providing four times the typical bandwidth. Additionally, the four ports can also be used in individual sub-nets to provide secure data and smooth transfers.

Built-in SAS with RAID Upgradeability
For reliable and cost-effective data protection, the DSEB series provides built-in SAS with RAID 0, 1, 1E support; and upgradeability to hardware RAID 5 through the LSI 8300XLP ZCR card. This allows users to upgrade without sacrificing any PCI-E expansion slots.

The motherboards are currently available through ASUS North American authorized server dealers. For more information on the ASUS DSEB series server platforms, please visit the company website at http://usa.asus.com.

InfiniBand is a switched fabric communications link primarily used in high-performance computing. Its features include quality of service and failover, and it is designed to be scalable. The InfiniBand architecture specification defines a connection between processor nodes and high performance I/O nodes such as storage devices. It is a superset of the Virtual Interface Architecture. Like Fibre Channel, PCI Express, Serial ATA, and many other modern interconnects, InfiniBand is a point-to-point bidirectional serial link intended for the connection of processors with high speed peripherals such as disks. It supports several signalling rates and, as with PCI Express, links can be bonded together for additional bandwidth.
