I have the canon 30D. We talked a little about what you were going to use it for before you bought your camera. I think you said you needed it for trade shows and a lot of indoor shooting. I would get a 2.8f stop lens, something like a Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM. Please remember the lens is what costs so much, and yes, you get what you pay for. This lens costs about 1200.00.

please look at this site http://photo.net/equipment/canon/

I was looking into this one: Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM for a general all purpose lens.

I think you will be happy with that lens when you shoot outdoors. Indoors will only be ok. The best pictures are without a flash. With that lens you will be using your flash alot indoors. For the price, I think the lens you have in mind is pretty good all around lens. It would be a very good first lens to own. It's hard to stop at just one lens. Pretty soon you'll have two or three. :)

I went with getting the panasonic dmc-fz18 JUST because of lenses. I'm not in anyway unsatisfied.

But, if I could AFFORD dslr I would have got that camera.
The lens you are speaking of I actually seen used in person with the same camera.
I don't know why the indoor thing is rated badly.. He just cranked up his iso for indoor pics and it was fine.
my camera iso 800 sucks lol. but, I don't use high iso

so as long as you are using a dslr as you stated. then its a great all around lens. For day and night.

Haha exactly. I knew you'd see the pic so I had to add a stocking up for you. The hard part was finding the glitter to put the name on it. Sorry for the quick job but, came out alright.
Shes not into computers but, she does like retro games like mario 1 2 and 3.
Altho not into computers she is into my other hobbies :-D personal training MMA and hiking to random places.

But, man it would be nice if she did like computers because she doesn't even like me on them or working on friends computers if she is with me.

All the links on that page point to the japanese canon site, and they are all now 404's so I'm guessing Canon either restructured their site, or took the content down altogether.
Its a shame as there were some things that looked interesting on there.

I think they restructured as they all seem to be here:
