Windows XP Validation

Post by danno »

I just bought a portable media player that requires at least windows media player 10. My system will not let me install the program because it can't validate my copy of windows. Is there anything that I can do?

Is it a legit copy of Windows?

If so, it should be providing a phone number, or some kind of contact for MS, that you should be able to use to have them resolve the problem for you.

I hope it is a legit copy...we definitely do not support piracy of any kind at LR. I do find Windows validation a pain but unfortunately it is their only avenue to help stem piracy.

The link is not on the up and up if you get my drift. Do not post stuff like that. The authors other posts go into ways to get around Windows Activation

I had validation troubles on a recent install myself. It failed when I went to the windows update page. Said something about several possible reasons and how to correct it. One option was to attempt validation again, which I tried and it said it was validated. Next time I rebooted, I got the tray icon that said it was not validated, so I went to the try again, and it validated and stuck that time, even after reboot.

cliffs: try to validate again, took 3x for me to get it to stick. Failing that, call MS.

I was able to call MS and get it done in just a couple minutes. First, buy yourself a legit copy of windows, then call MS if you can't validate it online.
