Means Yahoo is feeling the recession that wasn't supposed to happen. A lot of industries/companies are seeing drops in the stock value as the perceived economic down turn causes people to sell their stocks. Their selling to get out of stocks because their afraid stock prices will drop, in selling in panic mode they cause the prices to go down. In the past technology industries going down first are a good indicator of coming hard times, the housing loan industry is being blamed for a lot of the current down turn. They gave out billions in loans, the housing boom went bust, prices went down, people were sitting in houses worth 3/4 of what they paid at inflated adjustable interest rate loans and walked off from the loans. Bunch of empty houses, no one to buy them, banks and mortgage companies out billions, less money in the economy, economic down turn.

At least according to 60 minutes last night.

though yahoo saw an increase for 2007 revenue, they expect a rouugh 2008. ea'08 expected revenue from 5.35 bil. and 5.95 bil., which is a lower range than what analysts say (they were expecting strong 5.9 bil. in sales). my guess is that on wed. normal trading hours, the stock will be up - totally a guess but 10% drop on that news i think is a bit dramatic.

There's only a couple of ways to kick a recession, create jobs, spend more money, the feds regulate it by cutting the interest rate. It'll be interesting to see if cutting the interest rate will do any good with the banks being out so much operating capitol on the housing bust, combined with high fuel costs. Recession with inflation, less money circulating, prices going higher as fuel costs increase.

Earnings are earnings. Stocks will come back up like they always do. Fundamentally we are sound. We just have a correction to make and we are back in business. Lot of bargins out there right now if you like stocks! 8)

haha - figured you were after your original post... It's back down under $29, but if you could have bought in at $18... man oh man

If you had a gut feeling on it you shoulda pulled the trigger as long as you embrace the risk.

So what's gonna happen if the MS merger goes through??

noone seems to think that the merger is gonna help either company, maybe yahoo will get more money to waste, but nothing more than that. So, does this mean that both stocks are likely to go down? :-k

I don't think MS can make Yahoo better than Google, if that is their aim.
