The Final Parts?

Post by fatefirst »

Already then I am on the final lap for my custom build.
I have been looking around asking some people.
Especially ibleet
His computer setup 0.0 wow unbelievable setup. Seen it first person.
CoD 4 and Crysis Breath taking

Well first things is first

Budget = No more than $1000 with shipping.
I don't overclock

What I already have:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811129021
ATX Case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817139001
Corsair 520W (One reason I got it because of Ibleet. :))

Must requirement:
I can understand giving up some from here to get a better performance.
(Downgrading from 8800 to 8600. Save the money for hardrive)

CPU = Intel 3.0GHz or higher (LGA 775)
ATX motherboard
-PCI Express
-DDR2

What I would like to have:
8800 graphics card wise
320GB Hardrive
2gb of Corsair Ram
Fan Control Console

P.S.
How do I change the URl to something shorter? Like Case or Power Supply

CPU = E8400
Motherboard = X38 chipset or 780i if you plan to go SLI
Graphic card = 8800GT
RAM = 2x 1GB or 2x 2GB

A build similar to what I just put together would be great for gaming, with the exception of a few changes...

CPU = E8400 since its only $30 more than the E6750. We could easily OC the E6750 if budget ends up being that tight - $190 - $220
GPU - Either an 8800GT 512 or 8800GTS 512, depending on budget but do NOT downgrade to 8600. EVGA, XFX or BFG - $250 - $300
Mobo - depending on budget, either x38 or P35...780i or 680i for SLI...order what you need as far as SATA ports, NIC's, LED's...etc. - Asus or Gigabyte - $100 - $200
Ram - 2x1GB or 2x2GB...DDR2-800 - $50 - $85
Seagate SATA 320G HD 16MB Cache - $75 - $85
Samsung or Lite On SATA DVD Burner - $30
Monitor - with the 8800GT I recommend at least a 22" LCD...24" is ideal, but price is most likely gonna be an issue...

Grab this retail version Seagate 320 while you still can for $65. At that price, why not just get 2 and run them in Raid. Unless you plan on getting a Raptor.

Ok you have:

Case - Antec 900 - CHECK
PSU - Corsair 520HX - CHECK
CPU - E8400 - $220
GPU - BFG 8800GTS - $280 after MIR
Mobo - Gigabyte x38 - $200
Ram - A-Data 2x1GB - $31 after MIR or Corsair 2x1GB - $31 after MIR
HD - Seagate 320G - $65
Burner - Samsung DVD Burner - $34
LCD - Acer 22" - $180 after MIR - GRAB THIS FAST ITS A GREAT DEAL!

That should be a decent enough rig for you at $1010. Let me know what you all think.

I agree that you should go for a E8400 CPU.

Regarding a Video Card, you should go with a 8800GT 512MB, as it'll give you the best bang-for-the-buck for the moment.

Also, I would advice you not to compromise and go with 4GB (2x2GB) instead of 2GB of RAM, mainly if you plan on using Vista...or upgrade in the future to Vista.

Regarding the HD, any brand will be just fine, though if you want a quiet HD, go with Samsung or Hitachi.

And ibleet is right. You'd better get a 22" Wide-Screen LCD if you really want to make full benefit of the 8800GT...

So...GOOD LUCK with your purchase and keep us updated... :)

If you shop around, you should be able to get some good deals. I recently built a budget gaming rig for a kid I know for $815.00. Here's what I got him:

- Gigabyte Z1 mid tower (donated)
- Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard $89.11
- OCZ Platinum XTC REV.2 PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-15 $17.99* after rebate
- Galaxy GeForce 8800GT Overclocked 512mb $229.99* after rebate
- Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 $174.99
- Western Digital SE16 500GB SATA2 $95.99
- Pioneer DVR-212D SATA burner $27.99
I sold him an Ultra X-Finity 600w psu and a used Zalman 9500 cpu cooler.

I keep the rebates when they arrive as payment for the build. The kid is overjoyed with his new PC and can't believe the deal he got.

I think these two are a must:

CPU=E8400
Mobo= ABIT IP35-E LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard for $70 after $30 rebate at newegg

then the rest:

Cooler Ultima-90 ~$45
8800GT 512mb ~$250
Seagate 500Gb 7200.11 ~$100
2gb DDR2800 (most can be had for under $50)
500w Fortron Blue Storm - DFI NF4-D (SLI & SATAII modded) - Opteron 165 @ 290x9 1.35v - 1 GB OCZ Value VX 3200 2-3-3-8 @ 230mhz - 2x 80gb Seagate SATA on Raid 0 - eVGA 8800GTS
