Dell 24" Ultrasharp

Post by godling »

Hi Everyone,

My 24" Dell monitor (this one) arrived today. I'm a little too euphoric to say anything right now  ......... But I'll surely do a highly critical, "down to the grain" review after a week of usage.

As of now, I'm enjoying watching how huge the desktop is, finding some nice wallpapers (at deviant art) and laughing my butt off at how most of my applications are looking..........lol. =P~

Cheers!

Makes websites fit in half of the window doesn't it? I have that problem on my HDTV. I have a big bar on either side of the window with nothing in it.

Actually, no. I think that happens with badly designed web pages where all the content is left centered (old html styles). The present set of Web 2.0 style sites which I usually surf appear fine, as most are coded with strong CSS and sensible layouts. But yes, on most sites there's a huge gap on both sides of the centered content......lol.

In vertical (portrait for the purists), it's a different story. I'm awed out of my wits.......applications like Acid (track based music composition tool) and Sound Forge are just on "real-estate-steroids", if you know what I mean. O:)

Very jealous. I heart screen real estate too.

I totally have to get a monitor that big someday. Hell I might go crazy and get the 2560x1600 30".

Just need to start saving now :P

I have had mine for over a year now. I had to send one back because the on off button broke. Dell sent me a new one free of charge. I love my monitor. Just be careful of the on off button.

That's an insane dpi!

1920 in a 17" is only doable because of high end laptops.

But 2560 in a 20" format is ridiculous request. Would you even be able to read the text it's that small?

I have the same monitor. I am so glad I upgraded from my 19 inch CRT. Browsing the internet and multitasking is so much easier on the eyes with all the real estate. Looking at my 5.1Mp photos is great as well.

If I had the cash I would go for the 30". You spend 100% of the time looking at the monitor while using your PC, you might as well invest the most money into the monitor component.

i'd probably just make everything larger (to the same size(mm) as my monitor now), but i'd love the fact that no matter how hard you tried, you wouldn't be able to see the pixels in the native resolution.

ehh, maybe i just have OCD or something.ohwell
