If you remove the whole hs you'll have to get something to replace the cooling around the cpu too

It's not worth it IMO
I tried it with a DFI Lanparty Expert board.....
You get less performance from the loop due to the extra flow restriction and heat. It also causes cleaning and maintenance a pain, not to mention if you ever need to remove the mobo again.

I'd just get some air flow over the chipset and cpu area

I've never seen nor had a reason to water cool a NB before, simple good airflow over the board has been more than enough for my needs and I've never had a heat issues ..........;) But then again I have 3 x 120 low speed fans blowing over my MoBo...................

it'd be too much of a hassle now that i've thought about it, but its a good thing for the GPU once i upgrade.

so a Swiftech H20-220 kit, something like that Spotcool Fan for the NB, and if the fans dont get quiet enough, a yate loon fan or two

sound about right?

on newegg the H20-220 goes for $140, $60 less than from the company itself
not sure where i'll get the spotcool from though, its a bit pricy for just one fan

As a low tech low cost method you can just rest a fan on the back of your graphics card blowing in the northbridge/mosfet direction. Its what I've ended up doing.

For every 100ml of water, add ~4ml of anti-freeze ;)
It doesn't have to be anywhere near exact.
The less anti-freeze you add, the more (negligible) performance but you also increase the change of bacteria in the loop ( which means you have to clean it more often)

P180 Internal rad placement really is a bitch.

There literally is only the top of the case with enough room to mount it. There actually would be enough room to mount a 360mm rad there, if you use the existing back fan hole and cut forward from there. I couldn't do that in my rig though as the 8pin 12v aux is right under the radiator and wouldn't give it enough clearance to fit.

Another thing to note would be if you went with the MCP655, where would you put it? I had to hack out the lower 5.25" drive bay, I do'nt think that comes off as clean in the new design, if you have the design case with the almost tacked on bottom 5.25" drive bay then you'd be in luck for clean modding if you did decide to remove it.

I'm an external liquid cooling person. Just running the cooling loop into the computer and out serves me well.

Methious hits a good point, the hardware these days is just tooooo costly to replace if any accident were to happen.

Bio-Hazard knows my history in liquid cooling all to well. I'm not taking any chances putting a high flow pump, rad, or reservoir into my computer case. Allowing that would only increase the chances for any accident to happen at any given time. PLUS, upgrading the computer components is super easy when the cooling loop is very minimal in the case!

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for liquid cooling if it's done right in an external fashion.

Going external offers greater flexibility for upgrading/growth too. Not only can you change out computer components in the case, you can change out water cooling components in the external setup too! The Hydrocool-200, Swiftech/Corsair COOL, and now the Nautilus-500 and Swiftech H2O-XXX kits are good performing external systems. Modd'ing these kits are easy due to the external nature they all have.

Back in the early days of DIY liquid cooling, those pioneers knew more skills than what parts to buy from what vendor as it is today. In many respects, that still hold true even now. For example, one pioneer's tip still holds water today (pun). MorrisGS still uses his 1-gallon glass Vlasic pickle jar as a cooling booster reservoir that dissipates heat to ambient air. Why there is enough coolant reserves in that jar to keep his cooling loop from ever running low due to any permeation issues. If I remember right, he has fake fish floating in the jar as a conversation piece.

So, don't limit you liquid cooling to just inside the box. Think different and enjoy the benefits.

unless i find a better deal, i'll be buying the Swiftech H20-220 kit from newegg as soon as i have the $ (and it's back in stock)
i like not having to mod the case with this first stab at watercooling, especially keeping in mind that this will be a learning experience for me.

maybe once i have more confidence about watercooling i'll get adventurous and want everything inside the case, but honestly with my P-180B the H20-220 sticking out the back is going to look seamless and classy to me

all in all i cant wait!!
within 5-6 months after i put in the Swiftech kit, i'll add my next video card to the WC mix.
who knows what kind of upgrade possibilities i might consider then?
