ASUS EAH 2600 PRO VPU Recover error
I bought this system (except monitor and peripherals) a few days ago. I've installed windows xp professional with sp2 and the drivers from motherboard, and video card cds. After a half of hour i guess (i don't know exactly because i wasn't expecting something to go wrong) while i was installing something or browsing through programs (so i was on desktop not in a game) the VPU Recover error appeared for the first time ("VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands", send or don't send error report to ATI). After another half of hour the error apperead again and i was still on desktop browsing files or installing something... I installed a game and play it for more than a half of hour and the error didn't appear. I've formated the disk and reinstalled windows and the drivers about 3 times. The same thing happened. So i decided to go to the shop from where i bought the video card and tell them my problem. They tested my video card (it took them 2-3 days) in 3d mark 2006 and no error appeared. So i came back home with the video card and after 7 minutes on desktop appeared again VPU error. I went back to the shop with my system (without monitor and peripherals) and spend one hour doing nothing, just browsing through files. Strange but the error didn't appear. So i went back home again. And you can guess now that after a half of hour the error appeared again on desktop. I tried to change my desktop colors from 32bits to 16bits and after i did that the error appeared 2 more times or something like that and after that it didn't appear anymore. I spent about 2 hours in front of my pc and after i went to sleep. Next morning i spent another 2 hours in front of the pc and the error didn't appeared. So i decided to swith from 16bits desktop colors to 32bits to see if the error appereas again. I did that and the error appeared again. I started to think this was the problem but after i changed the desktop colors back to 16bits i was still getting the error. I formated the disk again and reinstalled windows xp sp2 and the drivers and set desktop colors to 16 bits and the error appeared again after a half of hour. After all this i was pissed off and installed a game to play. I played for more than 1 hour and the error didn't appeared. And after i quit playing i spent more than one hour on desktop and the error didn't appear. I forgot to tell that i also did the 3d mark 2006 test at home and no error appeared. And i also checked that the video card is ventilated properly. I just can't figure out where the problem is. If anyone has any ideea i would appreciate it. Can be the monitor's fault?

Try running Memtest
If you have a multimeter, you should test your power supply as well.
Welcome to the forums btw!

Re: ASUS EAH 2600 PRO VPU Recover error
Thank you very much for your advice! I fixed the problem by installing a new windows, this time vista business x64. I don't know i guess it was something wrong with the drivers for xp. I want to do the test you told me but tell me, memtest tests the video card or memory?
