falling asleep

Post by Merlin »

New problem...it seems I have lots these days. On the network I mentioned in the Newtwork question thread the server PC seems to continually fall asleep. I set the power management to never hibernate and never shut down. the only thing I set is the monitor turns off and it goes into standby mode ( I figured if someone is accessing the server it wouldn't go into standby). Do I need to set it to never standby or is there something else I have to do to make sure it is always accessable?

Turning it to never go into standby would ensure it is always accessible.

I've never configured it, but you could use the option of wake on lan (check the BIOS) to remotely wake up your server when you want to use it. But the downside is you'd have to wait for it to boot up before it becomes accessible.
