Thanks for the update and you are not the only person that has done that. It is an issue that the PSU companies need to look at.

Another way to check, the P4 connector only has yellow(12v) and black(ground) cables.....PSU's with other connector will have orange (3.3v) and other cables.....defmonk wrote:
Painful lesson => the real 12V connector has a nasty looking retaining clip and the little convertible piece just has two little claspy things on the side to attach it to the larger connector. (The good news is that this mistake did not damage the MoBo after many aborted power-ups).
