Intel D975XBX2 and Intel Quiet System Technology / Fans

Post by AARRGGHHH »

Does anyone know for sure whether the Intel D975XBX2 ("Bad Axe 2") supports the Intel Quiet System Technology?

If so, does this control just the CPU fan, or also the GPU and chassis fans? Can this technology be disabled if I want to just let all the fans run at normal speed?

Also: Can adjustments be made from Windows via an interface, or does everything have to be set up ahead of time in the Bios? Can SpeedFan be used with this board?

Thank you, very much

i think it doesn't has the Quiet System Technology. this was introduced in the p965 chipset.

on the 975xbx2 you can let the system control all fans. the pwm (4pin) fans (aux and cpu) are controlled seperately from the 3pin chassis fans. you also can turn this stuff off.

If you go to the intel support web page for this board, there is a link to download a tool called Intel Desktop Control Center. With this tool, you can adjust the speed of the fans manually, but this isn't the safest of things to do. A better idea is to use this tool to adjust the temperature range over which each controller speeds up its fans. I don't use Speed Fan (my philosophy is to use the tools that were intended to be used with a board), so I don't know whether it will work with this board.
