Feedback Needed - Computex 2007 Coverage

Post by Apoptosis »

Now that I am back safe and sound from Computex please tell me what you guys think about the coverage of Computex this year!!

Here is what LR covered while in Taiwan:

- Computex 2007 - Day 3 Show Coverage
- Computex 2007 - Day 2 Show Coverage
- Computex 2007 - Day 1 Show Coverage
- Intel Shows Off 8-Core 45nm Penryn Benchmarks
- Corsair Shows Off 2000MHz DDR3 Memory

On top of these five articles I will be publishing factory tours of Kingston Taiwan and ECS China over the next couple of days. Feedback for next year is welcomed! I tried to cover a number of companies this year as well as highlight some of the interesting things like penryn and 2GHz DDR3 memory.

Not as many pics compared to some of the other sites, but it was out quicker and seemed to cover more details than some of the other sites.

Overall, it was good coverage!

would you rather see more pictures and less text then? Several sites at Computex posted 10+ pages by company with no text at all... Is that what you like or do you want the pictures explained also?

I liked some of the preshow pics.
For some people (like me) we want to get the feel for the show itself since we'll probably never get the chance to go.

Dont get me wrong, your coverage was fantastic!
The whole reason for the show is to show off whats coming in the near future!
Thats what people want to know! Whats coming and how is it going to effect me!

You did a great job Apop!

I thought you did pretty good for being there by yourself, a lot to cover by just one person. Thought it was balanced for what was posted, like others have said if you have more images, if possible, make a gallery?

I agree with Bubba, great job for a 1 man review team!

I would like to see more pictures also :) Would be nice to have the coverage like you did, then just throw up pictures you took to a seperate page jsut to look at. no descriptions needed, just a way to get a feel of what was going on at the show, etc.

Mike

I was shaking that damn money tree to join you the whole time you were gone, but all I got were blisters. :p

I also agree with what others have said.

Good amount of stuff covered for one person, and if you have any other interesting pictures, just post a gallery of them.

Thanks for all the hard work you do Nate ^^

Considering the 40+ meetings I had and being just me it took lots of nights with less than three hours of sleep to get up what I did. To get any more coverage it would mean more more staff would have to attend. I heard The Inq had 3-4 people there, Bit-Tech/Trusted Reviews had four, and some of the bigger sites had several on hand.

The plane ticket alone was $1400 plus the hotel/taxi so it's about $2,000 US a person to go over there to the show. On top of that you have food and other expenses along the way like a passport and a visa for china. Hopefully next year we will be able to find enough sponsors or have enough in the budget to send at least one more writer over there. The show is so spread out (4 buildings) and many exhibitors are in hotels that are blocks away on top of it, so you need at least 2-3 people to do good daily coverage during the show.

Next year hopefully LR will have two people on hand at CES and Computex, but getting people to go that can and do put out daily content is tough. As Brian and Justin and they can tell you!

I thought the coverage was excellent, but I'm a picture whore. Maybe keep the text the same and drop a few more pictures here and there. Nonetheless, great job!

Nate,

I really enjoyed the effort you put into the coverage.

It's good to know that Kingston has a USB+microSD device. I've wondered all along why must I have some zillion and one card reader when a USB port is universal enough to use. This product whould be welcomed in the market place and to do well.

AND what a snag of a find getting the Intel PCIe 64MB memory card. I've often heard rumors and some talking about Intel doing something, but nothing of substance established this product's exisitance until your review.

It's also neat to see a HydroCool part made by Medical Devices out of New Jersey in the Antec Twelve Hundred. The part is the little red flow meter.

The CoolIT products are looking far better than the Hitachi cooling system in the Flora 270W. The tubing connections in the CoolIT line look more durable.

If you have any more suppliments to follow please add them. I'll enjoy reading the details.

Thank you!

Stev
