Media Center & Satellite

Post by Tech_Greek »

Hey Guys,

I current am using a Media Center setup in my room right now and I have Satellite running through it via a set top box and it set up for Cable.

What I'd like to accomplish is to match up my TV Guide to my Media Center Guide that way I can just select a channel and it use the Remote IR Sensor to change the set top box.

Anyway, I have the IR Remote Sensor working but the channel line up doesn't match and I didn't know if there was something special I had to do...

Do you have to change the regional setting for the tvguide on the MCE? (is there one? I can't remember)

No,

Usually you put in your Zip Code and it brings up a list of providers (but usually it's cable or on-air, never saw sattelite) but I didnt know if there was a special zip you had to put in in order to find it.

I havent tried to hook up to the internet or guide on the desktop yet as I didnt know if it would work or not.

Try SageTV and you'll love it or hate it. I use this instead of Windows MCE and it's hooked up to my Dish Network receiver. The only problem I have sometimes is with tuning to the correct channel but I suppose that's Hauppauge's IR problem and not SageTV.
