GA-965P-DS3, ASUS P5N-E SLI OR GA-P35-DS3R

Post by JCC »

Hello, New to the forum just looking to see what people think about these gigabyte and asus MBs
I'm building a gaming rig here's what i'm thinking:
E7650
EVGA 800GTS 640
ENERMAX Liberty 500W
WD Raptor 74GB
WD 120GB SATA
Mem 2 Gig DDR2 800 (Corsair XMS, Kingston HyperX, Geil or Mushkin....kinda depends on the MB)

I don't plan on using the SLI but the ASUS has some nice extras and the Gigabyte MBs seem to be well liked...so any thoughts?
Also If anyone has ideas on the mem or any of these to avoid with these MBs that would great too...

Thank Ya...thank ya verymuch

Why not go with a Raptor 1500 series for the primary instead of the 74GB drive?

The 74GB is $120 new - http://legitreviews.shopping.com/xPC-Sy ... 00rpm-16MB
The 150GB is $185 new - http://legitreviews.shopping.com/xPC-We ... B-10000RPM
Don't forget the $15 rebate on the 150 Drive, so it's 169.99 after rebate!

This means you are paying

$1.62 per GB on the 74GB Raptor
$1.13 per GB on the 150GB Raptor
