music cd to mp3 format
music cd to mp3 format
Is there a freeware program available to convert music cd files to mp3 format, to burn on to a cdrw for use in the car CD system. I have Nero, but it doesn't seem to convert to mp3 format, but does burn my existing mp3's to cdrw.

Yup if you dont have any other programs like Nero (or a bunch of freeware) you can use windows media player.
Go to Tools -> Rip Music. Be sure not to leave the format at WMA (especially with the "Copy protect" enabled"). Just choose mp3 set the quality etc.
From within Nero burning rom you can choose Extras -> Save Files/Encode Files (there be sure to uncheck mp3pro in the advanced tab).

I use Exact Audio Copy and LAME. This process isn't the most user friendly but it does exactly what I want it to do.
