ATI Releases Catalyst 7.10 for Linux platforms

Post by Apoptosis »

We have just released Catalyst 7.10 for Linux platforms on http://www.amd.com

Over the last few months AMD has made a number of significant announcements to deliver a higher level of support to the Linux community. The Linux Catalyst team has been hard at work to bring you some highly anticipated features in this release (the most significant feature of course being the preview of AIGLX support!), so be sure to install the Linux Catalyst 7.10 driver!
Highlights of the Linux Catalyst 7.10 (8.423) release include:

New features

Support for AIGLX (Accelerated Indirect Rendering) on ATI Radeon graphics processors – Preview release

* This release of Catalyst™ includes the first preview release of AIGLX support for ATI Radeon graphics processors for consumer Linux users. AIGLX enables OpenGL accelerated desktop effects for supported Linux distributions. We’ve still have to do a bit more testing before we officially support AIGLX in Catalyst, but in the meantime we wanted to provide the Linux community with a preview, to let everyone know that it is coming soon.

OpenGL game performance improvements for ATI Radeon graphics accelerators:
* This release of Catalyst™ includes significant OpenGL performance improvements for a variety of ATI Radeon graphics accelerators for OpenGL consumer based games such as Doom 3 and Quake 4.

Performance benefits will be seen on the following products: ATI Radeon X1000 Series, ATI Radeon X800 Series, ATI Radeon X700 Series, ATI Radeon X550/X300 Series, ATI Radeon 9800 Series, ATI Radeon 9700 Series, ATI Radeon 9600 Series, ATI Radeon 9500 Series.

Catalyst Control Center Linux Edition: New 3D user interface
* This release of Catalyst™ introduces a new 3D user page within the Catalyst Control Center Linux Edition. The 3D page allows users to adjust Anti-Aliasing, Anistropic Filtering and VSync while using a static preview that helps users understand the benefit of adjusting the various settings

Support for X.org version 7.3
* This release of Catalyst™ introduces support for X.org version 7.3

Resolved Issues
* Playing videos with TexturedVideo no longer results in stuttering being noticed
* Corruption is no longer noticed when the Composite extension is enabled
* Segmentation faults in OpenGL applications and the ATI Catalyst™ Control Center Linux Edition with AGP cards no longer occur
* Various error messages no longer appear during RPM installation under SuSE 10.2.
