Intel E6850 overclocking help

hi guys, I have a intel e6850 with an msi p35 platinmum motherboard, now the thing is that i increased the bus speed to around 396 with multplier being 9 and in the bios it says the clock speed is around 3.6ghz now in cpu-z its showing the clock speed of 2.3ghz with the multplier being 6 while the bus speed is 396. Cpu-z is reporting these speeds while the professor is under stress from folding. and when i do 3d mark it shows one core as 3.0ghz while the other being 3.6ghz

any help will be appreiated

Go into the BIOS and disable what I think is called Speedstep.

Please be sure to check the temperatures first! when idle the multiplier should be 6 not 9, but if on benching one core reports 3G and the other 3.6 then maybe one core is throttling back?

Anyway, you should disable speedstep (EIST) and C1E.
When checking the temperatures do so with the lasest version of coretemp, you should be around 60-62C in full load to be safe (i mean normal full load, like folding etc. not with cpu stress programs. If you have 60C in folding you should be around 70 with a sterss program like intel TAT, but no worried you will never get such kind of utilization of the cpu).
What the difference of the temperature of the 2 cores when in load?

If the temperatures seem fine, and one core is still at 3g when running your 3dmark then you could try to disable Intel TM (thermal monitor) from bios, but only for testing, you should turn it back on as soon as you can
