Flash freaked out and stopped working

Ok this is a wierd one - wifes uncle called because he could not open a swf file from an email. I went through installing flash, shockwave, and all windows updateds - same thing, just a blank white screen in IE. Cleared temp files, no difference. Uninstalled flash and shockwave and reinstalled them again after rebooting, no change. Got every single update from MS, rebooted, same thing.

I can play the link just fine, even downloaded the swf file for him to try with no luck.

Flash does work in websites with it imbedded, but it seems like he just cant play SWF files anymore.

I finally got it to play in Windows Media Player!

Why the hell would IE not play swf files anymore for him? I cant think of anything else to really try.

he has Vista ( that is not the problem as I have it too :p ).

any ideas I can ue to get this thing back to playing swf files in IE would be a great help.

Oh I already did the open with thing an associated them with IE, but that didnt do anything except associate them with IE

Sorry, not much in the way of help, but try running firefox on the machine and see if that has the same issues.
