Quad core now folding

Post by KnightRid »

1% at 05:48 (why are the f@h times different from the actual computer time?) and now it is 70% at 13:13

Thought it would be faster :?

Maybe I am hoping for too much?

Oh this is running that affinity changer program also - should I run that with quad core?

Mike

Hopefully will remove the AMD2400+ from the kids computer and replace it with one of the dual cores I have here to get more points :)

to use the affinity setter you have to run 2 instances of smp. other wise your just using 2 cores.

let me see if i can scroll back and see - nope

this surrent one is Project 2653 - start at 19:07:40 and 98% at 13:23:11

Mike

so I should get rid of the affinity setter for quad core? I have read not to run 2 instances of FAH on quad core since the smp was built for quads.

thats the thing with affinity setter. i have no clue how the hell it works, but when you run 2 instances of f@h on a quad, you have 8 instances of the core running, and somehow, the affinity setter makes your ppd go up (?) if i fold one instance of the smp with out the affinity setter, i get units done faster, but for somereason my ppd goes down.
