Re: can't find info on 9xxx series
the NV 9 series. atleast with the 9800gx2 and the 9600 aren't new chips their just core revisions of G92 (which is a revision and die shrink of G80 (8800GTS/GTX/Ultra) with a few new features. The 9800GX2 is a dual pcb card with two G92 GPU's and a bridge chip, think 3870X2 only with two pcb's instead of one. the GPU's face each other and share a common HSF sandwiched in between them. its a dual slot card expected to run fast and extremely hot, this replaces the 8800 Ultra.
9600 is a mainstream part based on a new revision of the G92 its called G96 or something I think. Its a single slot mid range card.
I think although I can't prove that the 9 series cards are more like 8.5 series cards then full blown 9 series cards. Nvidia no bout has something big cooking and id expect it to hit around 3Q 08.
Last I heard the 9600GT is supposed to launch end of this month and 9800GX2 around June. But my info is old on the subject im sticking with my G80 8800GTS for a while as i have no money lol.

Re: can't find info on 9xxx series
Question is, how long are you prepared to wait.
Unless you are willing to go with the 9800GTX equivalent, it is going to be some time before the sweetspot of price/performance of the series comes out.
Benchmarks show that the 9600 isn't quite as good as an 8800GT (kind of like the 7900GT vs the 8600GT), so that isn't worth getting imo. And the only other current known about card the 9800GX2 is a bit of a stopgap really.
An 8800GT (or GTS) if you can save that bit more will last you a good while, and would be what I reccomend if you dont want the 9800GTX.

Re: can't find info on 9xxx series
I doubt they will be launched in time for me to take advantage of the EVGA step-up program. I am excited about the dual-gpu nvidia cards...and surprisingly enough, not at all excited about the 3870X2.

Re: can't find info on 9xxx series
Ok fair enough...I guess if I got one for free, I could find it within myself to get excited...
