Benchies

Post by Merlin »

My new setup is on the way from NewEgg and I was wondering how to test and record some Frame rate data etc. from this system so I can later compare what the tests show on my new setup. I know about CineBench 10 and Sandra but I don't know the others that are usefull nor do I know how to run the tests while playing Far Cry for example. Any help would be great.

p.s. I also have a Crysis demo I wanted to test out and Call of Duty 4 is coming with the setup so I can install and test it on this system before I switch to the new one.

fraps is great, it has a built in benchmark utility that will record the fps of a game for a amount of time you detirmine and save it to a text file. if you get the full version you can also record in game videos with it

Doesn't Fraps have a limited in game clip utility in the free version?

I usually use

Sisoft Sandra
Fraps
3Dmarks2006
PcMark Vantage (6.95 for more than one run)
AquaMark
LightsMark
Super Pi

There are others but mostly I use those, if you happen to have Company of Heros it has a utility in it.

Fraps does include a video capture, and in vista you can even capture from the desktop, which is kinda odd. I got the free version a while ago, and for some reason it didn't have any of the "www.fraps.com" text in my videos like a previous version had. Almost like they had accidently released the full version on the website for free.
