Processor upgrade

Post by danno »

Hi I am currently running a E6400 and need to upgrade. I do a lot of video encoding and writing. What is the best processor around the $200 mark.

I would guess that the E8400 would be a good choice. It gets my vote.

You can grab a Q6600 on sale for around that price! Since you do video encoding the two extra core will help

Because video editing is a processor intense activity and modern editing software will utilize all available cores (most PC games don't). This means that, for video editing, a quad core is twice as powerful as a dual core at a comparable speed.
