The one I have costs about a grand. I never use it. Bought it this year and never used it. It's a Sony with 1080P and a 60 gig harddrive, it's the latest model. Sorry I couldn't be more help. I don't know much about camcorders except how to turn it on. Oh, and to use the zoom.

buddy of mine has one of the Originals and likes it pretty well. Easy to use (usb pops out the side and plugs in to dump video), takes decent video and the price isn't bad at all. Gonna pick my daughter up one for Christmas.

Re: reccomendations camcorder
Ok, I have been working with filming for 2 years now, and i have some experience in standard and pro cameras. Depends on what you are looking for. The description you wrote down on the top is very vague. So what do you expect the camera to do? Do you want it to be Standard Definition or High Definition. Do you want to be able to set the focus, and shutter speed, aperture and all those settings? I have some very very good cameras, but they can get a bit on the pricey side.

There are some cheaper cameras out there, and if you do not really worry about many features on there, then this is a good choice.

It uses a hard drive, so transferring footage shouldn't be any problem
. Hope this helps.

Re: reccomendations camcorder
I have a really nice camcorder I got cheap, but the video files are saved in a .MOD format which has very poor compatibility with.....everything. I would add some sort of file format preference to your search, or at least keep it in mind. I finally found a free way to convert the videos into AVI, but I have to do it on my wife's macbook.
Good Luck with your search!
