Founder of Microsoft Robotics Initiatives Tandy Trower to Deliver Keynote on Opportunities in Robotics Market
FRAMINGHAM, MA – March 11, 2009 – Robotics Trends and EH Events today announced that Microsoft has joined the RoboBusiness Conference and Exposition as a Breakfast Keynote Sponsor. Tandy Trower, a General Manager and founder of the robotics initiative at Microsoft, will deliver the keynote session on the first morning of the 6th Annual RoboBusiness Conference and Exposition, which takes place April 15-16, 2009 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts. RoboBusiness is the international business development event for the personal, service and mobile robotics industry. The event website is www.robobusiness.com.
Tandy Trower’s presentation, ‘Personal Robotics: Getting Some Perspective,’ will focus specifically on the most compelling opportunities within the personal robotics market. Trower states, “There have been many opportunistic projections about the personal robotics market, and while progress is being made, there has been very limited delivery of actual products. RoboBusiness provides a great opportunity for the international robotics and business communities to discuss the most important and compelling robotics markets and opportunities, and the technical and business challenges that must be overcome to bring systems to market.”
Tandy Trower has a 27 year history with new products and technology initiatives at Microsoft, bringing to market new products as diverse as Microsoft Flight Simulator to Microsoft Windows. In addition, as a strong proponent of the importance of design in human-computer interaction, he has contributed to the company’s investment in improving its user interfaces, founding the company’s first usability labs and product design roles. He continues to investigate and drive strategic new technology directions for the company and incubating new projects.
According to Dan Kara, conference chairman and President of Robotics Trends, "We are delighted that Microsoft has again joined as a sponsor of RoboBusiness and that Tandy Trower will be presenting a keynote address,” said Dan Kara, conference co-chairman and President of Robotics Trends. “Through products such as Microsoft® Robotics Studio, as well as robotics community development efforts, Microsoft has a well deserved reputation as a leader in this exciting new industry.”
