There's a flip-flop controversy at the White House, and this one has nothing to do with President Bush and John Kerry.
A photo of Northwestern University's national championship women's lacrosse team, taken during the athletes' visit to the White House last week, shows four of the nine women in the front row wearing flip-flop sandals along with their dresses and skirts. The choice of footwear has prompted a mini-controversy — a flip-flop flap, if you will.
What are your thoughts on this? Were the four girls wrong for wearing flip-flops to visit the White House or do you think they were just democrats playing the flip-flop joke?
I personally don't think it matters what shoes you wear to meet the president as long as they are clean and not falling apart.
This is why the U.S. is so vulnerable to terrorist attacks. We are focused on four young girls wearing flip flops. They probably bought them at Nordstrom or something and paid 50 bucks for them. The girls look very nice...they bought clothes from Ann Taylor...I mean come on, don't we have anything better to cover in the media.
I just hope they all got pedicures...don't ya think Apop?
who frigging cares. jeez. republicans always seem to have some kind of moral outrage or some kind of "tradition" or "respect" issue they want to fight about. people need to realize that times change and so do styles. it's socially acceptable to say "hey" rather than "hello" when formally addressing someone. it's just pretty ridiculous, in my opinion, what some people choose to start a controversy over. if we live in a free country, people should be allowed to wear whatever they wanted if they were going to meet the president... just as long as their clothes are clean, and aren't falling apart, as apop put it, or slutty. i understand that it'd be nice to show respect to a world leader and whatnot, but who's to tell those girls what they should and shouldn't wear? any moron can tell that the girls made themselves look presentable... it's not exactly like they threw on whatever was lying on the floor.
[personal note]i think it's perfect, the idea that girls wore comfortable foot attire to see a republican president. i think that high-heels are one of those "man's world" kind of shoes for women to wear (because we all know women look DAMN good in them, even though they're uncomfortable for women to wear). seeing how, typically/generally, it's republicans who have the "man's world" mentality, i think it's awesome these girls wore what they were comfortable in.[/personal note]
besides, who's the boss? those girls or the president? last time i checked, he worked for us... no matter how unkempt or slovenly.
we should take less time worrying about some lacrosse girls' feet/shoes and start worrying more about healthcare and social security.
Doesn't matter what you wear to meet the man, after all he's a person just like everone else in the world and puts his cloths on the same as everyone else. Last I heard there wasn't a national dress code or anything like that except for his staff. And last I heard, this is still a free country and you can still dress the way you like. I could careless even if he is the Prez...................
