Green Boxes Popping up :( HELP PLZ

Post by bleet »

Hello :) I'm currently having green boxes pop up little by little and then I see them all over until black starts flashing everywhere and certain things become kinda see-through until my computer just freezes with looping sound. I was wondering what would be the best drivers for my setup or how to fix this? its really annoying.

in the game just hit "prt sc" or print screen and then open Microsoft Paint and select paste. It should come out clear like you see it in the game with the video flaws.

well if its artifacting on the gfx card he is not going to see anything. I would try reinstalling your drivers and see if that helps you might also want to check you voltages and make sure that the video card is getting all the juice it requires.

volt meter is the easiest way to check voltages... I would make sure you got the most recent drivers installed too.

that kinda looks like either a driver issue or texture issue i have seen that before in HL2 on my box it is generaly fixed with a reboot.

Maybe you have some sort of crazy virus? Have you run an adware scan or virus scan lately?
I would also probably bet it is a driver issue. Try a complete uninstall and then reinstall. Also make sure there are no foreign objects (fuzz or anything) that my have gotten in the connections on the SLI bridge or in the PCI-Express slots of the cards.

On a side note, I just have to ask...
If you have two of some of the best video cards available on the market today running in SLI, then why don't you have your image quality cranked up to the max?! Do you even have AntiAliasing enabled at all?!
Crank that stuff up and reap the benefits of having an SLI setup like that!!!!!!!!!! Because if you aren't then I think you should give it to someone who will

I haven't used Nvidia since ti4400

But if the 6800U fan is temp controlled, mayby "Speedfan" can allow you to increase the fans speed?
it works for ATI cards!

You could juts place an 80mm fan ontop of your cards with the case open
This will tell you if heat is the issue (even take a fan from you case!)

Your system draws ALOT of power. Are you sure your PSU is ok?

Did you OC your cards too much? If so, shame! If the cards are too hot, that will also cause artifacting... Does this happen in AquaMark or 3DM05?

The green spots I've seen before are artifacts as mentioned above. In CS:S the textures that are missing are purple and perhaps they're green in HL2. My guess, however, is that you OC'd too far and need to tune it down. And as someone else said turn your settings up to where they belong with your rig. Mine looks soooo much better than that screenshot and I have a single 6600GT. Try uninstalling the cards completely and reinstalling them with factory drivers. Don't overclock after you've done this. Run HL2 at the recommended settings and see if your problem still exists. If it doesn't go ahead and install the newest drivers from nVidia's site.
