ATI TV Wonder VE sound problem

Post by Andy »

Hi I'm new here,

I seem to have a problem with using ATI TV Wonder VE PCI. The problem only happens when I open the TV program, chose a channel, and then close the program. What happens is that the sound of my last visited channel plays in the background until I restart my computer! It plays at about half the volume as everything else. I checked my processes from the task manager and it shows that this program isn't even open!

My computer specs are:
Pentium 4 Processor 1.4Gig
AOpen Mother Board AX4BS Pro with Intel 845 Brookdale chipset
Windows XP Pro SP2
Panda Platinum Antivirus

I tried uninstalling & reinstalling the drivers & software and the problem still continues... I know that the card is old but any help would be apresheated!!!

hmmmm, I have had a similar problem with sound playing after I closed out a program, but mine was because I have a very slow K6-2 500MHz processor in my machine right now. Could be that the processor is waiting to free up resources each time so it can shut everything down. It can also just be one of Window's quirks, which we all know it has many. Other than that I wouldn't know what else could be causing the problem, unless you didn't have enough RAM. Just remember, the name of the game when utilizing multimedia in a computer is system resources. If you have things running in the system tray (which is the icons on the lower right of the task bar), they could be tying up resources to keep them running in the background. In that case, I would just disable them by going to start, run, type msconfig, go to startup tab, and uncheck applications you don't want starting up with Windows. If that doesn't help at all, then you may need to do some upgrading to get everything just right.
