Based on the awarding-winning TowerRAID and TowerRAID Plus series, the new TowerRAID "+" series provides many of the features previously only seen on enterprise storage solutions along with a brand new look. Compared to the original TowerRAID series, the new TowerRAID+ comes equipped with the eSATA 6G PCIe 2.0 x1 RAID controller card utilizing a more powerful RAID engine, effectively increasing performance by five times. The new TowerRAID+ series which includes the TR4M+(B), TR5M+(B), and TR8M+(B) are based on eSATA port multiplier technology. The TR4UT+(B) and TR5UT+(B), on the other hand, come with built-in hardware RAID eSATA and USB 3.0 interfaces.
The TR4M+(B), TR5M+(B) and TR8M+(B) utilize the latest eSATA port multiplier technology. The TR4/5/8M+ Series Storage array is extremely versatile and can be used to fulfill different types of storage requirements. From personal usage to company data backup or video editing stations, the TowerRAID+ series provides a simple solution for expanding data storage capacity for its users. Utilizing Port Multiplier technology, the TowerRAID+ series allows for multiple hard drive expansion while using only one or two eSATA cables. The bundled (RR622) PCIe 2.0 x1 RAID controller is powered by a much more powerful newly designed RAID processor, providing performance in excess of 200MB/s*, offering fast and affordable storage expansion solutions. Enterprise features such as online RAID level migration, online RAID expansion, RAID roaming, user-friendly web GUI based management and e-mail notifications also come standard with the bundled 6Gbps RAID controller card.
The TR4UT+(B) and TR5UT+(B) on the other hands incorporate the latest SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and eSATA, technology capable of reaching performance speeds 5x faster than the previous models with USB 2.0. With the superior USB 3.0/eSATA bandwidth and integrated HardwareRAID engines which helps to reduce CPU utilization of the host computer or server, the TR4UT+(B) and TR5UT+(B) are capable of running RAID 0, 1/10, 3, 5, CLONE (N-Way Mirror) and JBOD with over 200MB/s of data transfer rate. In addition to the performance increase bundled 6Gbps eSATA PCIe controller, the TR4UT+(B) and TR5UT+(B) are designed with various advanced features such as the instant RAID availability that allows immediate access to the units without the need to wait for RAID initialization. Status LEDs in the front of the unit provide RAID health status while detailed event logs and E-mail notifications are available via the included software utilities.
All models have built-in efficient cooling fans to prevent over-heating due to excess heat dissipated by the Hard disk drives. The built-in hot-swappable backplanes allow for easy hard drive insertion and removal. All models support the latest 3TB SATA hard drives for up to 12/12/15/15/24TB of total raw storage capacity.
