hi, i have an asus a7v333 motherboard, which according to official figures, support pc2100 NON-ECC ddr. and now i have a samsung pc2100 ddr but is an ECC, and after i installed it, the system does not start up. nothing show up at all on the screen, total black, just like when switched on without memory installed.
is it because NON-ECC motherboard not compatible with ECC? or the memry stick itself is broken(which i think is the case)
also, how can i know wat memory sticks is suitable for my mainboard, i mean wat figures (apart from pcxxxx, ddrxxx and fsb) should i read? coz normally there are many figures on a memory stick but little metioned in the mainboard spec. things like cl, ecc/non ecc may affect compatiblity but cant be bad enought to halt the system is it right??
many thanks!!!!!!!
ecc memory on non-ecc mainboard, compatible??
