Problems with Kubuntu 5.10
Problems with Kubuntu 5.10
I am not completely new to Linux, but I am having problems installing Kubuntu. I get a cd read error right after I type "install" and press enter, right after booting from the cd. I know it's not a problem with the cd since I have tried several cds, and I have successfully installed Kubuntu using VMWare and the same cd. I have an Asus P5LD2 and an 80 GB sata drive. Has anyone else experienced this?

It sounds like it's not finding your HDD correctly, You need to set you HDD to compatible mode in the bios. Only XP or win2k will run correctly with your HDD's set to enhanced mode.....
Try that, if it's still the same switch off your USB2 controller!!
I had the same issues with SuSe Linux, Debian, Mandrake and some others....and they were all using the latest 2.6 kernel!
