Upgraded BeoSound 5 music player uses PacketVideo’s Twonky technology to create a connected home
For Release July 25, 2011
NEWS FACTS
PacketVideo (PV) today announced a partnership with Bang & Olufsen to bring PV’s
Twonky media‐sharing technology to Bang & Olufsen’s premium music player, the
BeoSound5. The BeoSound 5 – a slick console that allows users to digitally manage and
play their music collections around the home – will now include built‐in Twonky
software to create a seamless, connected music sharing experience.
With the embedded Twonky software, the BeoSound 5 will be recognized on the user’s
home network. This lets users access media stored on their home network and play it
through their BeoSound system directly from the controller.
The BeoSound 5’s integration with Twonky will allow it to communicate with other
connected DLNA devices such as smartphones, computers and tablets to create a true
connected home experience.
This latest integration furthers Twonky’s ongoing work to promote media‐sharing within
home, and Bang & Olufsen joins a range of devices with embedded Twonky software,
including Buffalo, Linksys, Vodafone and Western Digital.
BeoSound 5 customers via the automatic software update get access to the newest
version of the software, complete with Twonky’s media‐sharing capabilities.
