Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge Guangzhou – Slots in the World Championship 2012 – A total of 93,000 US Dollar in prize purse
Cologne, October 11, 2011 – The Electronic Sports League (ESL) has successfully organised another stop of the Intel Extreme Masters season 2011/12, the global league of the video game champions. The event took place on October 1 - 5, 2011 during the Ani-Com & Games Expo at the Jinhan Exhibition Center in Guangzhou, China. The best players from Europe, Asia and America competed for their share of 93,000 US Dollar in prize purse and slots in the nearest World Championship, which will take place at the beginning of the next year in Hanover, Germany. The competition was held in three disciplines: Counter-Strike 1.6, StarCraft 2 and League of Legends. The event attracted thousands of fans at the venue in Guangzhou as well as on our streams on ESL TV, the ESL's web TV service.
The overall standings are as follows:
Counter-Strike 1.6 ($40,000):
1. Place: Fnatic ($16,000 and a slot in the World Championship)
2. Place: mousesports ($8,000 and a slot in the World Championship)
3. Place: WinFakt ($4,500)
League of Legends ($32,000):
1. Place: World Elite ($12,000 and a slot in the World Championship)
2. Place: Counter Logic Gaming ($6,000 and a slot in the World Championship)
3. Place: SK Gaming ($3,400)
StarCraft 2 ($21,000):
1. Place: Gregory 'IdrA' Fields ($6,500 and a slot in the World Championship)
2. Place: Samuli 'elfittaja' Sihvonen ($3,300 and a slot in the World Championship)
3. Place: Lee 'PuMa' Ho Joon ($1,750)

After the events in Cologne and Guangzhou the Intel Extreme Masters season 2011/12 will continue with competitions in New York, Kiev and Sao Paulo on the way to the grand final in Hanover,Germany. World's best professional gamers will compete with each other for high prize money and the World Champion title. The total prize money in this season of the league is 635,000 US Dollar.
