Kingston 128GB SSD SNV425??

So a classmate of mine that is in my engineering program is selling his 128GB Kingston SSD for $100 and I'm interested in buying it off of him. I asked him if it's the svn425-s2 but he wasn't sure off the top of his head. If it is than its the one LR reviewed last year.
Anyways I'm asking for some feedback about the drive and do you think if it's worth $100...

I suggest you make him run at least one benchmark and get back to you. That way you will now what exactly that particular example is capable of and also help with bargaining.

The Vertex Plus is rated at up to 285MB/s read and 275MB/s write.
The Kingston 128GB SNV425 is rated at up to 200MB/s read and 160MB/s write.

I'd go for a brand new drive that has better performance and a cost of $4 more... You'd be better off going new anyway. Used storage makes me nervous.

Yeah I asked him to do some tests and show them to me.
The newEgg sale looks really good but sadly, I live in Canada...do you know if the promo/discounts work on newegg Canada?
I could get a family or friend who live in the states to get it for me but it could be a hassle.

Usually ssd's are quite expensive and I'm seeing some for $1 per GB I was thinking of getting one. Normal HDD prices have sky-rocketed too recently from the flood in Thailand so....

Anyways, I'll browse around and see.

I personally don't think it's worth $100 bux possibly $80. I have seen a lot of deals on SSDs lately bringing several of them in line with that price.
