Differant ram timings?

Post by Dragon_Cooler »

I just got in my new XMS3200c2pros, with LEDS and so far they are Awesome. They are rated @ 2-3-3-7 or 6. Along with those i have my Old Corsair Value which i THINK are rated @ 3-4-4-8.

Will my Value Select slow the overall performance of my ram? If so, will it be better to run 1 gig of the XMS rather than 2 gigs of slower ram?

If you must know, yes i plan to oc them!! :finga:

It will default to the timings of the slowest stick of ram, it will also set you comand rate to 2T --> all of this will higher the latencies of the ram compaired to 2x 512 of XMS3200c2pro...so yes your loosing some performance
BUT going from 1GB to 2GB in some games will be more beneficial than having 1GB with higher bandwidth.....

the best way to know is do some gaming or benchmarks and compare them......

Your not going to OC much using 4 sticks of ram btw.....chances are, you'll haveto use a memory divider....but that doesn't hinder performance @ all

well my XMS PRO i did have 2 gigs. My old set that the XMS replaced went to my shuttle. I may just have to stick with ocing my proc which is at 2.3 right now.

In CPU-Z it shows my timings as 2.5-3-3-7. So either they went down or my value select was some good stuff. LOL
