The AMD Radeon R9 Fury X features the brand new AMD Fiji GPU and is the first graphics card to hit the market with High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) technology. We’ve been talking about this card so much in recent weeks it really feels weird to be writing the launch article as there really isn’t anything new to tell you besides our own internal benchmark results that were done independently by us.

These video card prices are just way too high! The flagsip cards shouldn't be more than $300 or $350. Lower cards should be around $150-200. $650 and $1000 for a stupid VGA? bull****.

I so agree with you!!! Pricing has gotten out of hand for a number of things but video cards are in a league of their own. For $500+ these cards should do quad display 4k at no less than 60fps. Then again, i always ask for more and hardly ever get it. This is definitely NOT the Nvidia 980ti killer, not even close, it is just right there with it at the price tag people cringe at.

People wonder why everyone is flocking to game consoles when all they need to do is look at video card pricing or gaming computer pricing to see why. At least on a console they have a set spec and will have that till they are retired and then you have to buy a new one, for cheaper than this video card I might add. Computer gaming is where it is at but few can afford to keep up with the tech to run the games at their epic highest settings.

Just my thoughts - the gpu industry may want to keep an eye on Intel very closely as they increase the built in graphics capabilities inside the cpu container along with DX12, people may not even need a high end gpu except to run 4k (which they still barely do).....gpu industry is going to have to find a way to manufacture these cards at much lower starting price points to stay relevant.

Yeah, it costs them in material maybe couple of bucks to make them and if we ad the costs of invention they still make 1000x more than what they invested. Just being greedy. But this greed may not pay off at the end as you say, as consoles may just take over the market or Intel will with its integrated VGA and once the market is gone, it is hard to get it back if at all possible.

What we are talking about is realy just a circuit board with some electronic parts!

I second what you are both saying here. I just picked me up another inno3d gtx 980 ichill for £420. more than a console. my current pc and built will cost around £1250 to build right now. you could get 3 maybe even four consoles for that price

All this just to loose all its value in 2-3 years being outdated!

I just did some dollar per FPS charts for the cards in this review... I took the Newegg pricing for the lowest price non-open box model for each card. I did include rebates in the final street price. Believe it or not the Radeon R9 290X came in the winner! The Radeon R9 Fury X is the second worst and was only beaten by the Titan X that costs $1049.99! The ASUS Radeon R9 290X card is only $269.99 after rebate right now and has the same clock speeds as the reference card used in my reviews.

Chart is very informative! I stll think AMD/ATI needs to drop their pricing a TON to even try to get even with Nvidia. I personally wont buy an AMD card unless it is super cheap and super good just because of how well the Nvidia cards have worked for me. Same with cpu's. If that R9 was around $150 regular price it may make a good deal ;)

yep that's right but hey, it may loose value but it will still pack a punch. even my old outdated gtx 580 3gb in dual sli do a good job.

I'm the same as you knightrid. I have had amd cpus and gpus in the past and the amd version that is to rival the intel and NVidia side is close but not close enough even with their price to performance ratio. intel and NVidia all the way

I shelled out over $500 for my GTX480 back when it came out. First time I ever spent that kind of cash on a new card. I would be very hard pressed to justify it again. Guess I'm not that hardcore anymore
