Blue line on screen

Hey, my girlfriend bought a Gateway laptop from circuit city in september and last week i got a blue verticle line going down the right side of the monitor. What can cause this? It wasnt dropped, that i know of, she takes really good care of it. she said that the battery went dead and it shut down on her. when she plugged it in and turned it back on, the line appeared. it is just weird. I can pinch the top of the screen on the boarder and the line goes away...it is strange.
She didnt buy the "extended warranty" so she has to call up gateway's support to get the thing fixed. Im jsut wondering what would cause something like that.

Hmm... a laptop that my brother got from work had two blue lines going down the screen. The screen worked fine for a bit, then it died the next time we turned it on. I would just have to say it is a problem with the display and needs attention.

Have her call Gateway. They will send a new display and a tech to install it for you. Should still be under manufacters warranty.

you dont think they will make her send the laptop to them?

so she talked to Gateway today and they told her to do a system restore back to original settings on the thing...morons.
