7900GT and Dell E510

Does anyone out there know if the power supply in a Dell E510 has enough power to drive a 7900GT? The power supply is rated at 305W and my system does not have any extra devices installed (just the one disk drive).

I have also read some posts saying the extra connector on the E510's power supply is not compatable with graphics card power pins. Does any know anything about that? Can I power a graphics card from an extra disk drive connector using some kind of adaptor?

305W is definitelly not enough. you need at least 500W or more to drive that beast.

As an update I ended up getting an eVGA 7600 GT CO card for my Dell E510. It's working great, not problems at all. I did replace the stock cooling fan with a Zalman cooler for a more quite set-up.

Dell actually use good PSU's in their PC's

I'd still check the voltages under load if you can --> peace of mind and all
