Havok + nVidia Questions...

Post by AgentJ »

Hello,

I just now noticed Havok and nVidia have gotten together to have some type of system where your second PCI-E videocard could be used as a Physics card (a bit late, I know!)

I read this older thread:
http://forums.legitreviews.com/viewtopi ... ight=havok

And read the PDF provided on nVidias site:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/havok-fx-gdc-2006.html

It's been a while, and I was curious if anymore information has been released about it. Mainly, if you must use a SLI-link to use it. Second, if the two cards dont have to be SLI'd, could it be used on a Crossfire board (since the two cards aren't linked)... or would one still have to use a SLI ready motherboard?

Just thinking if I should get a Intel 975x/P965 motherboard or try for something like...a ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe. Seems like since im going to have a 7600GT for a while and possibly upgrade to a higher nVidia GPU, I could use the old one as the Physics card later on after the ugprade (I read somewhere you could use the slower card as one...)

Not sure when this is going to release either... there a date anywhere?

Just deciding whether I should pay more or pay less and take a gamble... how is that motherboard anyway... ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe?

Thanks,
-AJ

hmm yeah i've got a question along the same lines. Can you use older cards to work as PPU's? IE 7800's maybe even some 6 series?

I've read it has to be part of the "7" series. 7300?/7600/7800/7900

Hope someone has more info on if SLI (and a SLI mobo) is required or not... :(
